Michal Oren, one of the first cohort of Royal College of Music conductors taking part in our conducting workhops, in 2023, has been announced as Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Calleva Assistant Conductor ahead of its 2026/27 season.

The appointment follows two days of auditions at Lighthouse, Poole with seven shortlisted candidates competing for the position. The winner was selected by a vote from the Orchestra’s musicians.

In recent months Michal Oren has also been announced as a semi-finalist in the 80th Concours de Genève Conducting Competition, and she features on Classic FM’s Rising Stars 2026 list.

Huge congratulations, Michal!
