Introducing Wooju Baik

On Sunday 9 November Rehearsal Orchestra’s 2025/26 season will kick off in London with a workshop for young conductors.

Now in its third year, the workshop expands the support we provide for future professionals in developing their skills. We’ll be joined by four student conductors from the Royal College of Music’s postgraduate course in orchestral conducting, under the supervision of our Artistic Director Levon Parikian, to work on Shostakovich’s iconic Symphony No. 5.

Korean conductor Wooju Baik is Assistant Conductor of the Orion Orchestra in London, working alongside maestro Toby Purser. His recent accolades include First Prize at the 8th lonel Perlea conducting competition, along with being the Orchestra Prize winner and recipient of a special engagement from the State Philharmonia Braşov and the inaugural winner of the first Romania Conducting Competition. Wooju has worked with the Athens Philharmonia, Wiener Festspiele Orchestra, RCM Philharmonic, Cyprus Symphony, Filarmonica Brașov, Filarmonica Pitești, lonel Perlea Orchestra, National Theater of Korea and State Opera Stara Zagora, among others.

We look forward to working with you, Wooju!
