The Rehearsal Orchestra’s work in nurturing talented musicians would not be possible without the charitable trusts and foundations, corporate donors and individual benefactors whose generous support enables us to fulfil our mission.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has severely disrupted our course activities over the past few years, we continue to plan into the future, and 2022 saw us return to business almost-as-usual. The aim of our charity remains that of providing outstanding orchestral learning opportunities whilst keeping costs to players, especially students and young professionals, as low as possible. Funding, essential to achieving our goals, is particularly challenging to secure during this time.

There are lots of ways in which you can support the work of the Rehearsal Orchestra. Many of them are listed on this page, but if you would like more information or have further ideas, please do get in touch.

Any donation you can make will help provide the orchestral musicians of tomorrow with the same fantastic opportunities which previous generations of Rehearsal Orchestra players have benefitted from.

Thank you

The Gillian Halse Bursary Fund

Harold Taylor, partner of Gillian Halse Noel (pictured left with Harry Legge) who co-founded the Rehearsal Orchestra in 1957, very kindly gave a legacy in his will in Gill’s memory to fund student bursaries for our annual Edinburgh rehearsal week. To find out more about supporting the bursaries we offer and what they can achieve, see our Bursaries page.
