Meet the student conductors for the Tchaikovsky, pt 2

Introducing Yi-Chuan Chen, born in Taiwan, currently pursuing a Master of Performance in Conducting at the Royal College of Music, studying under Toby Purser, Peter Stark, and Howard Williams with an RCM scholarship. Initially a talented Chinese bamboo flautist, he later studied conducting with Maestra Apo Ching-Hsin Hsu and graduated from National Taiwan Normal University. He is the current conductor of the Arteam Chinese Orchestra and served as the conductor of the NTNU Alumni Chinese Orchestra until August 2024. From 2018 to 2020, he was an assistant conductor at the National Chinese Orchestra of Taiwan (NCO), after placing second in the NCO’s 2016 Young Conductor Competition.
