The Edinburgh Festival week is the highlight activity of The Rehearsal Orchestra (see our special Edinburgh page). We rehearse from 09:30 to 17:30 (with breaks) then the evenings and one afternoon are free for the Edinburgh Festival or Fringe activities. A full leaflet is available from The Rehearsal Orchestra administrator.

APPLICATIONS for woodwind and brass should reach us by April 25 2008. Acceptance will be notified in May. However, places may be available after that time, so please get in touch.

Rehearsals take place in central Edinburgh. There are shops and eating places in the vicinity - sandwiches will be on sale on site at lunchtime.

Accommodation in the centre of Edinburgh

For 2008, we are pleased to be able to offer accommodation in self-catering apartments in central Edinburgh.

The accommodation is a 10 minute walk from the rehearsal venue, George Heriot's, and a 5 minute walk from the Usher Hall. Each apartment sleeps four or five and has individual bedrooms with bed linen and towels, a communal kitchen/breakfast room with full cooking facilities, a shared bathrooms and separate WC.

For those who do not want to stay in self catering apartments, B&B accommodation can be booked through the Edinburgh Tourist Board — 0845 225 5121 outside UK +44 1506 832121 or at www.edinburgh.org. Please note that accommodation availability cannot be guaranteed, and it is advisable to book accommodation as soon as possible.

All fees include tuition and coaching, provision of orchestral sheet music and equipment where required (e.g. stands, contra-bassoon, percussion), tea and coffee in mid-rehearsal breaks, a drinks reception after the first rehearsal on the Saturday evening and dinner on the Friday evening.
